DO I HAVE TO BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE? I THOUGHT LAB! SHOWS WERE FREE?
No matter what the show or event, admission to LAB! performances has always, and will always be free of charge! However, due to the popularity of our performances in addition to our use of a more intimate venue, advance ticket reservations are often required to guarantee you get a seat. Tickets for all LAB! shows and events will be made available at our Box Office the Sunday prior to opening night at 10PM EST/EDT (the only exception is The 24 Hour Play Festival, which will be made available 24 hours prior to show time).
I wasn't able to get a ticket before a sHow sold out! What do I do?
All sold out mainstage performances will have an in person wait list that opens thirty minutes prior to the show's start time. We strongly encourage putting your name down if you were unable to get a ticket. Those on the wait list will be asked to provide their name and email, and they must be present should their name be called informing them a ticket has become available. If you are on the wait list and not there to claim your ticket after the house manager calls your name three times, your ticket will be released to the next person on the wait list. Only one ticket per person on the wait list.
I GOT MY TICKET! WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO THE SHOW?
House doors for all mainstage shows will open thirty minutes prior to the show's start time (the time house opens varies for special events, and will be indicated on your ticket). We recommend all audience members attending with a larger party arrive as early as possible to ensure they are able to sit together, as all LAB! performances are general admission. For both mainstage shows and special events, LAB! reserves the right to release your ticket if there is a wait list and you have not arrived by the show's start time.
What are my Parking Options?
Parking availability at UNC can often change if there is another event occurring on campus the evening of a show, and unfortunately, we are often unaware of these events in advance. Due to potential unforeseen circumstances, we ask our patrons to allow themselves ample time to find parking. The following options are available near Studio 104 when there are no special circumstances: Cobb Deck: Parking is free in Cobb Deck (Paul Green Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514) on the weekends (Saturday/Sunday) and after 5:00PM on Fridays. It is also available after 5:00PM Monday-Thursday for a $1/night (payment options include paying at the meter and via the Park Mobile app). Cobb is the most convenient parking deck, located directly behind the Center for Dramatic Art.
Raleigh Road Visitor Lot: The Raleigh Road Visitor Lot is a short walking distance, located at the corner of Country Club Drive and Raleigh/South Road. It is also free after 5:00 on Friday as well as all day Saturday and Sunday, and can be parked in for an hourly rate during the week (payment options include paying at the meter and via the Park Mobile app). Street Parking (Country Club Drive): There are some metered street parking spaces available in front of the Center for Dramatic Art along Country Club Drive that accepts quarters, or can also be paid by card via the Park Mobile App. Street parking is free all day Saturday and Sunday.
alright, so where is the show?
Most LAB! mainstage shows and events are performed in the Joan H. Gillings Center for Dramatic Art in Studio 104. Typically, the front glass doors to the Center for Dramatic Arts are locked after 5PM if there is not a Playmakers show in performance. The best way to enter the building is through the back doors, which if coming from Cobb Parking Deck, will be the entrance you see when walking to the building. OR, for those facing the main glass front doors to the building, turn right and walk around the building. As you walk around the building you will see stairs (and a ramp for those who may have difficulty with the stairs) to walk down to this entrance.
Directly inside is a hallway of studio classrooms. Studio 104 is the the fourth studio on the left, and there will also be a LAB! House Manager directly outside the studio to ensure you're in the right place.
While most LAB! performances occur in Studio 104, we do sometimes produce work in other Chapel Hill venues. The correct venue and address will always be printed on your ticket, but if you have any questions about the location of a specific show or event, please contact the LAB! Theatre Box Office.
The LAB! Event Calendar is updated frequently to reflect both performances and audition information. Check back regularly for the most up-to-date information on everything LAB!. For the most timely updates, check us out on Instagram or Facebook.
