A Dawn Chorus, formerly referred to as Hindsight, is a devised theatre piece that follows a mother and her child as they navigate the loss of the mother’s sister, a close friend and confidant to the child. When the child, a junior in college, is asked to come home and provide emotional support for their mother, the two enter uncharted waters and redefine their relationship: are they still mother and child, or have they grown apart so much they now seem unrelated?
Writers honed in in on what spoke to them: parent/child relationships, as well as the jumbled, cyclical ways in which we process and remember our childhoods, and how we navigate our parent/child relationships in the present, whether that is with our biological or chosen parents. A Dawn Chorus represents these ideas from the perspective of the characters' family home.
